Iowa Board of Regents

Meeting Rundown

The Iowa Board of Regents will meet June 15-16 at the University of Iowa Levitt Center in Iowa City. Selected agenda items are outlined in brief below. Open session portions of the meeting will be livestreamed on the Board’s YouTube channel

Meeting Background
Two large items usually discussed during June meetings will be absent from this year’s edition. Tuition and Fee rates were completed at the April meeting this year to comply with House File 440 (2025). In addition, the annual evaluations for the university presidents and executive director that usually open each June meeting will take place this July.

This year, the Governance, Evaluation and Human Resources Committee will open the meeting and consider a number of policy manual revisions, salary policies and the Red Tape Review, pursuant to Governor Kim Reynolds’s Executive Order 10. The Governance Committee will meet Monday at 11:30 a.m.

Further, the Board will consider action to direct the Governance Committee to begin the search for the next Board of Regents Executive Director. Current Executive Director Mark Braun will retire in 2027 after more than 10 years of service to the Board and decades of service to Iowa’s public universities.

Investment and Finance Committee
President Pro Tem and Investment and Finance Committee Chair Tjaden will deliver another update on the Board’s Revenue Enhancement and Productivity Study (REAPS). The committee also will receive an update on the FY 2027 budgeting process and the Quarterly Investment Report from Marquette and Associates. The Investment and Finance Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday at 2:35 p.m.

Academic Affairs
The Academic Affairs Committee will receive a report on the Regents Admissions Index, consider a new center at UNI and receive a proposal for reduced credit bachelor’s degrees at all three universities. The Academic Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet Monday at 1:50 p.m.
