FY 2026 State Appropriations Request VIDEO
The Board approved FY 2026 higher education appropriation requests totaling $506.3 million, which included $2.5 million in new, incremental general university funding. The Board requested $22.3 million in additional special purpose dollars to fund service projects for Iowans. UNI requested $2.5 million in incremental funding to support efforts to differentiate its tuition from that of more research-intensive universities. UI and ISU requested no incremental funding for their General University Funds for FY 2026.
The three universities requested additional appropriations increases to strengthen their service and outreach to Iowans. Major components of the service requests include the UI Rural Health Care Partnership, the ISU Rural Economy Initiatives and the UNI@IACC (Iowa Area Community Colleges) partnership.

Academic Affairs Committee VIDEO
The Academic Affairs Committee approved administrative restructures in the UI Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the UI School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability. Item 10, an Iowa State proposed merger of two programs, was removed from the docket by ISU’s request for further campus discussion. Additionally, the committee approved new centers at UI and UNI, new BS programs in Game Design and Education Studies at ISU and received reports on the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory and FAFSA and admissions.

Property and Facilities Committee VIDEO
The Property and Facilities Committee approved the UI Register of Capital Improvement Business Transactions, which included multiple projects for UI Health Care. Capital Registers for ISU, including phase one of the NEWRITE project, and the Lakeside Laboratory were also approved. In addition, the committee approved Iowa State’s request to name its Administrative Services Building after former Senior Vice President Warren Madden.

Free Speech and Student Affairs Committee VIDEO
The Free Speech and Student Affairs committee received updates on campus First Amendment training and student organization advising.
Governance, Evaluation and Human Resources Committee VIDEO
The Governance, Evaluation and HR Committee approved personnel appointments, including the appointment of Sean Reeder as Senior Vice President for Operations and Finance at Iowa State and Lois Geist as Interim Vice President for Research at UI. The committee also approved health and dental insurance rates for Regents employees.
Investment and Finance Committee VIDEO
The Board received the quarterly investment report from Marquette and received the annual review of peer group comparisons.
Audit and Compliance Committee VIDEO
Board Chief Audit Executive Chad Sharp presented internal audits for the committee’s consideration. Deputy Auditor of State Brian Brustkern presented state audits.
UI Health Care Committee VIDEO
The committee received the UIHC presentation from VP for Medical Affairs and Dean of the Carver College of Medicine Denise Jamieson, Associate VP of UI Health Care and UIHC CEO Bradley Haws, and Associate VP for Finance and UIHC CFO Mark Henrichs.
Faculty Presentation VIDEO
The Board received a presentation on Iowa State’s Digital Agriculture Innovation Laboratory from Dr. Matt Darr, John Deere Endowed Chair in Ag Innovation.
