UNI Presidential Search Update

The search for the 11th president of the University of Northern Iowa has officially begun. Headed by AGB Search, the process seeks “a mature leader with proven skills in innovation, entrepreneurship, fiscal management, and creative problem solving” to lead UNI’s 11,905 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and staff members.

The position advertisement was posted on Tuesday, September 13 in The Chronicle of Higher Education, InsideHigherEd, Women in Higher Education, Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education and Hispanic Outlook, among other locations.

The search committee conducted listening sessions to gain input from UNI campus leaders, Cedar Valley business and community leaders and legislators over the summer. This input process utilized feedback from more than 500 participants and helped shape the list of qualifications the committee presented to the Board of Regents and AGB Search in early September.

The deadline for best consideration is October 19. The search committee will meet on October 26 to select the interview pool. Selected candidates will interview with the committee on November 11 and 12 and finalists will visit campus beginning November 28. The Board will select the president-elect on December 6.
