Iowa LEAD-K Legislation Passes
Iowa’s version of LEAD-K legislation, which stands for Language Equality & Acquisition for Deaf Kids, was passed earlier this month. Stakeholders, including the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Board of Regents, have worked to pass this legislation for years. LEAD-K legislation is designed to ensure deaf and hard-of-hearing children have access to American Sign Language (ASL), can read and write English and receive the education they deserve to be successful and independent.
