Veterans Articulation Conference Held March 10
The Board of Regents, in conjunction with numerous Iowa community colleges, hosted the 2017 Veterans Articulation Conference March 10 at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. The conference brought together leaders from the Regents enterprise, Iowa community colleges, and the Home Base Iowa program to discuss opportunities for veterans in higher education.
Daniel Kinney, President of Iowa Central Community College, opened the conference with a panel discussion featuring three student veterans. Keynotes from Jeff Grossmann, professor at St. John’s University, and Dawn Garzon from Washington State University-Vancouver followed. Finally, Major Philip Turner of the Iowa National Guard and Jason Kemp from the United States Air Force (retired) shared updates on Iowa National Guard educational services and the Home Base Iowa Program, respectively.
The conference was organized by members of the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit and the Liaison Advisory Committee on Transfer Students. These bodies are largely comprised of representatives from the Board of Regents Office, Iowa’s community colleges, and the Iowa Department of Education.
