Board of Regents Meeting Preview: September 23, 2020 Meeting Preview

At its September meeting, the Board of Regents will consider approval of FY 2022 state appropriations requests totaling $642.87 million. This includes a continuation of last year’s appropriation, plus incremental increases for the higher education general fund, the special schools and other education appropriations and for economic development.

While the Board previously approved university budgets at its July 29, 2020 meeting, athletics budgets were deferred until September because of the volatility of fall sports schedules from the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the Board will consider approval of FY 2021 athletics budgets at its September 23, 2020 meeting.

In response to the fiscal hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Regents will consider a moratorium on construction projects that result in a net increase of campus square footage at its September 23, 2020 meeting. The moratorium is the first recommendation put forth by the Regents Advisory Group established April 30, 2020
