UI MS in Finance
Proposed changes to the University of Iowa’s Master of Science in Finance program will come before the Board at its June meeting. If approved, the UI will terminate its in-person MS in Finance program and create a fully-online MS of Finance program in its place.
These changes, if approved, will help expand the program’s reach beyond campus and formalize the MS in Finance program’s largely online delivery process. Creating this fully online program is a natural extension of the program and would complement existing online offerings, such as the MS in Business Analytics, finance certificates and the Iowa MBA.
Notably, numerous Des Moines-area students have expressed interest in the program, as many are employed by financial and insurance companies in the metro area. A fully-online program would better serve that population and allow remote students to further their education while participating in the job force.
The MS in Finance program already has the infrastructure and offerings in place to move fully online without significant further investment.
The UI MS in Finance changes are scheduled to come before the Academic Affairs Committee on Wednesday. The full Board will consider approval as part of the Consent Agenda (Item 11d) on Thursday.
