University Presidents Launch TIER Initiative
(URBANDALE, Iowa) – In letters distributed today from University of Iowa President Sally Mason, Iowa State University President Steven Leath, and University of Northern Iowa President Bill Ruud, the universities are launching the Board of Regents efficiency review of university operations.
The effort is called Rising to the Next TIER – a Transparent, Inclusive Efficiency Review. The TIER goal is to transform our universities so they are sustainable for the long term and true to their core academic missions of education, research and service as well as learning, discovery and engagement.
We encourage the input of all Iowans into this review. For this purpose, as announced by the university presidents, public forums have been scheduled at each campus, as follows:
Venue | Date/Time | Location |
---|---|---|
University of Iowa | Friday, March 28, 10:00 am | 100 Phillips Hall |
Iowa State University | Tuesday, April 1, 10:00 am | Howe Hall Auditorium |
University of Northern Iowa | Monday, April 7, 1:30 pm | Maucker Union Ballroom |
In addition, the universities have set up online links for the public to provide suggestions for program, policy and process improvements. This and other information can be found at the following links:
- University of Iowa – http://efficiency.uiowa.edu/
- Iowa State University – http://web.iastate.edu/efficiency/
- University of Northern Iowa – http://www.uni.edu/web/efficiency
The efficiencies that the public helps to identify will create savings that will be reinvested into programs that strengthen the universities’ teaching, research and service missions, improve their administrative processes, and keep our high-quality public education affordable to Iowa students and their families. Everything is on the table and all ideas, questions, and input are welcome. We look forward to hearing from Iowans.
