Iowa Board of Regents

Statement From Board of Regents President Michael Richards on Tuition

October 10, 2017

The Board will not do a first reading of 2018-19 tuition at its October 18-19 meeting in Cedar Falls. We had intended to, but we need additional time to consider what tuition levels will be for the next academic year.

It is imperative we set tuition at an appropriate amount. The Tuition Task Force meetings held this past summer gave the Board great information and feedback from a wide variety of constituents. One of the key messages we heard is that students and families do not want multiple tuition increases during the year. We agree with this, and we will not revisit 2018-19 tuition levels once they have been established.

We do not have a timetable for when we will do a first reading of tuition, but we will do it as soon as we have a proposal with which we are comfortable.
