The Annual Fall Enrollment Report
At its November meeting, the Board of Regents will receive the Fall 2024 Enrollment Report. This year, total student enrollment at Iowa’s public universities increased by 1,251 students, or 1.8%.
Total enrollment was bolstered by UNI’s 2.9% enrollment increase, with UI increasing by 2.4% and ISU increasing by 0.8%. Iowa’s public universities count 70,494 students among their ranks, the most since Fall 2020.
Undergraduate students make up 80% of the student population, with graduate and professional students representing the remaining 20%. This ratio is consistent with historic trends.
Enrollment of Iowa residents, out-of-state students and international students all increased from Fall 2023. Notably, out-of-state and international student enrollment increased by 4% and 3%, respectively. This marks the second-straight increase in international enrollment after consecutive years of decline from 2015-2022.
