Statement from President Miles in Response to Governor's Announcement
I commend Governor Culver for his swift action today in response to yesterday’s report of the Revenue Estimating Conference and the need to prepare for additional decreases in State revenues. The Board of Regents also needs to act quickly given the potential impact of this national financial crisis on the many important programs and services that Iowa’s Public Universities and Special Schools provide for our students, and for all of Iowa.
Statement from President Miles on Report of Revenue Estimating Conference
Today’s report of the Revenue Estimating Conference projecting a large decrease in FY 2010 State revenues is undoubtedly discouraging for the Board of Regents and Iowa’s Public Universities and Special Schools. Any additional budget reductions that may result from today’s estimates would be a significant burden on our institutions.
Board of Regents Approves Iowa Teacher Intern License Program
(Ames, Iowa) – At its meeting today, the Board of Regents approved establishment of the Iowa Teacher Intern License (ITIL) program, a collaborative effort of Iowa’s public universities that provides a nontraditional teacher preparation program for professionals wishing to enter the teaching field from other careers.

(Urbandale, Iowa) – On behalf of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, President David Miles expresses sadness on the passing of Marvin Pomerantz, who served as president of the Board of Regents from 1987 through 1993, and in 1995-1996.

Advisory Committee Chair Regent Bonnie Campbell Issues Statement on Payment for Services of Stolar Partnership in University of Iowa Sexual Assualt Investigation
(Urbandale, Iowa) – Today, Regent Bonnie Campbell, on behalf of the Advisory Committee, formally requested that the Executive Director inform the University of Iowa that the Board Office will review, approve, and pay all invoices from The Stolar Partnership, with the understanding that the University of Iowa will be responsible to reimburse the Board Office using non-taxpayer dollars that may not include tuition funds.
Articulation Website Now Available
(Urbandale, Iowa) – In response to 2007 legislation, Iowa’s Regent universities and public community colleges created an Articulation Website, called TransferInIowa.org, that addresses the number one question transfer students ask, "How will my credits transfer?"
