Students from Iowa’s public universities will spend today at the State Capitol advocating on behalf of the universities. 

In letters distributed today from University of Iowa President Sally Mason, Iowa State University President Steven Leath, and University of Northern Iowa President Bill Ruud, the universities are launching the Board of Regents efficiency review of university operations.

The times and locations for the public hearings have been posted.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will meet via telephone on Friday, February 28, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. The call will originate from the Board of Regents office at 11260 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, Iowa. The purpose of the meeting is to receive an explanation from President Sally Mason regarding her remarks on sexual assault, followed by a closed session of the Board. 

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, governing body for the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa School for the Deaf, and the Iowa Braille School, seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Project Manager. 

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will meet via telephone on Tuesday, February 11, at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will originate from the Board of Regents office, 11260 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, Iowa. The Board will be asked to approve the selection of a consultant based on a recommendation by the Board’s Efficiency and Transformation Review Committee. 

The first meeting of the Board of Regents Superintendent Search Committee will take place on Friday, February 7, at noon, in the Hancock Room of the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel, 1800 – 50th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa.

In accordance with the transparency measures adopted by the Board of Regents in August 2013, the Board has scheduled the following public hearings on January 30 and 31, 2014, to precede the Board’s next meeting on February 5-6, 2014.
