The 2016 Campus Safety and Security Summit will be held October 26, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Scheman Building at Iowa State University. Hosted by the Iowa Board of Regents, the Iowa Association of Community Colleges Trustees, the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Iowa Coordinating Council for Post High School Education, the Summit is designed to allow higher education and other professionals to share best practices and information.

On September 29, I began conversations with Board of Regents Chief Audit Executive, Todd Stewart, about performing a compliance review of policies regarding use of equipment and travel at each of the three Regent universities.

At its September meeting, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa will discuss its FY 2018 appropriations request. In a new approach, the Board is proposing a two-year budget and tuition model to show the needs of Iowa’s public universities.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa has announced the names of the University of Northern Iowa Presidential Search and Screen Committee. The committee is charged with identifying finalists for the Board’s consideration to become the next president of the University of Northern Iowa.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa has selected AGB Search from Washington, D.C. as the firm to assist with the selection of the next president at the University of Northern Iowa.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa approved an amended proposal for tuition increases for the three Regent Institutions, effective for the fall 2016 semester. 

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa is soliciting Requests for Qualification (RFQ) from qualified search firms to assist in the process to select the next president at the University of Northern Iowa. The Board hopes to select the successful firm by the end of July.

At its June meeting, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa will be asked to consider tuition increases at Iowa’s three public universities, effective with the Fall 2016 semester. "We appreciate the support that the Governor and General Assembly have given the public universities over the years," Board of Regents Bruce Rastetter said. 

At our June meeting, the Board of Regents will appoint an interim president at UNI, who will serve until a new permanent president can take office.

The Board of Regents thanks President Ruud for his extraordinary service to the University of Northern Iowa and the state. Under his leadership, there has been great progress made at UNI, and he leaves UNI in a stronger position than when he arrived.
