Statement from Executive Director Mark Braun on Governor's Budget Recommendation

The Board of Regents is appreciative of Governor Reynolds’ continued support for Iowa’s Regent universities with her FY2021 budget recommendation. We will continue to be good stewards with funding that our universities receive.

Iowa’s Regent universities are an excellent investment. A recent economic impact analysis showed that Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa provided $11.8 billion in added income to the state in FY2018. Our university activity supports nearly 150,000 jobs and returns almost three dollars for every taxpayer dollar spent.

The Board and institutional leadership look forward to working with the Governor and General Assembly during the upcoming legislative session. We will continue to advocate for a level of funding that is needed to provide the first-class education that our students demand.
