State Relations Officer for Board of Regents Vacancy Announcement
The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, governing body for the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa School for the Deaf, and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School, seeks highly qualified candidate for the position of State Relations Officer assigned to the University of Northern Iowa.
The State Relations Officer maintains legislative liaison with all state legislators and executive officials and agencies as assigned on behalf of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, and the institutions governed by the Board during the Iowa General Assembly and throughout the year; advocate the University of Northern Iowa objectives as approved by the Board to the legislature; monitors legislative activity regarding its potential impact on the Board; and gains support of legislative leaders and others on behalf of the priorities of the Board and the University of Northern Iowa. The position also serves as liaison with the student government leadership on each of the campuses. The position reports directly to the Executive Director, Board of Regents.
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least five years experience in positions requiring analytical skills appropriate to the specific position. Master’s degree and experience as a legislative liaison is preferred. Considerable knowledge of Iowa legislative procedures and regulations including the statutory governance authority and role of the Board of Regents is required.
Position will be primarily located in Urbandale, Iowa with a secondary location at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
