President Rastetter Thanks Governor for Action on Regents Legislation

May 31, 2014

(URBANDALE) – On behalf of the Board of Regents, I want to express my thanks and appreciation to Governor Branstad for taking final action Friday on bills that greatly affect Iowa’s public universities and special schools. We are very pleased that the Governor’s action solidifies a tuition freeze for a second straight year for resident, undergraduate students at Iowa’s public universities, while also maintaining commitments to ongoing capital projects.

I also thank the Governor for his commitment to public higher education by preserving new, long-term funding for the Pharmacy Building project at University of Iowa, the Bioscience Building project at Iowa State University, and the Schindler Education Center renovation at the University of Northern Iowa. These projects represent the core strengths of the three universities and these important buildings will be utilized by our students at the highest level for generations to come.
