Iowa's Public Universities Unite at Regents Day at the State Capitol

On Wednesday, March 13th, students from Iowa’s public universities will spend the day at the State Capitol advocating on behalf of the universities.

Hannah Walsh, the student member of the Board of Regents, is leading this group of students who will discuss higher education with members of the Iowa legislature. Students from all three universities, the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa, and Iowa State University will share their experiences and highlight what the three schools give back to the state, individually and collectively.

The students will hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. in Room 116 of the State Capitol to discuss their advocacy and the day’s legislative contacts. The press conference is open to the public.

The speakers will include:

  • Regent Hannah Walsh
  • Jordan Bancroft-Smithe, the Student Body President at the University of Northern Iowa
  • Nicholas Pottebaum, the Student Body President at the University of Iowa
  • Matt Pruss, Student Ambassador, Iowa State University
  • Michael Appel, the President of the Executive Council of Graduate and Professional Students at the University of Iowa
