The Board would like to thank the Governor and members of the General Assembly for the support that was shown to the universities and special schools this past legislative session. Of particular note, the Board is grateful for the $5.1 million added to the University of Northern Iowa’s base budget, as well as the approval of the Student Innovation Center at Iowa State University. |

The Iowa Senate education budget approved today provides a 1.75% increase in the general operating line item for each of Iowa’s public universities. In addition, the Senate recognizes Iowa State’s record setting enrollment, as well as the high percentage of resident students at the University of Northern Iowa, by appropriating an additional $2 million for Iowa State and an additional $5.4 million for UNI. |

The House Appropriations Committee voted today to include Performance Based Funding (PBF) for the Board of Regents in the Education Appropriations budget. The PBF funding will redistribute $12.9 million from the University of Iowa and direct $6.6 million to the University of Northern Iowa and $6.3 million to Iowa State University. |
