Rachael Johnson, a former North High School student from Sioux City was appointed to the Board of Regents on May 1, 2015. Rachael is currently a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa pursuing a degree in Elementary and Middle Level Education. She is a 3rd generation Iowan and the middle of three children.
Rachael has had a passion for leadership from a young age. Prior to her appointment to the Board of Regents, she served as Vice President for the Iowa Association of Student Councils from 2011 - 2014.
Rachael has contributed her time to the Northern Iowa Student Government (NISG) which represents nearly 12,000 students across the University of Northern Iowa campus. As a Senator for the College of Education, she helped to represent and advocate for students. Through NISG Rachael served on the Campus Relations Committee and Pepsi Fund Committee. Rachael also helped to represent the College of Education as a student ambassador.
Beyond the University of Northern Iowa, Rachael enjoys working at the ARC of Woodbury County in the summer months.
Regent Johnson was appointed to the Board of Regents on March 2, 2015, by Governor Branstad. Her term on the Board expires April 30, 2021.
