Board of Regents to Hire Search Firm to Assist in Hiring of Next University of Northern Iowa President

July 1, 2016

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa is soliciting Requests for Qualification (RFQ) from qualified search firms to assist in the process to select the next president at the University of Northern Iowa. The Board hopes to select the successful firm by the end of July.

“Choosing a search firm is a key component as we develop the timeline and process for the selection of the next University of Northern Iowa president,” said Katie Mulholland, President Pro Tem of the Board of Regents, who is leading the Board’s effort in developing the search process. “It is important that we get a search firm in place so when we have our full process defined, we can move forward as quickly as possible with the selection.

“We have been and will continue to reach out to various key constituent groups from the UNI community, including faculty, staff and students,” Mulholland said. “We want to get their input on what characteristics the next UNI president should have, as well as on the search process. In addition, we are in the very early stages of developing a search committee, the size and makeup of which has not been determined. It will be inclusive and diverse.”

The Board of Regents is a group of nine citizen volunteers who govern the state’s three public universities and two special K-12 schools – the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School – through policymaking, coordination and oversight.
